Join us for the 3rd Annual Tool School event in partnership with Young Agrarians, Kootenay Local Agricultural Society and Linden Lane Farms on May 31st, 2020 (time TBA).
Come for a quick tour of the farm, then learn how to use and rent the available equipment in the Kootenay Local Agricultural Society’s Tool Library and finish the event with a group potluck!
Our quick tour will be brief as we go over the many aspects of the farm’s production practices. Matt will be happy to answer questions as they arise!
Next, Andrew will showcase the Kootenay Local Agricultural Society’s (KLAS) available equipment through the Krestova Tool Depot. He will describe the equipment and practices best suited for each implement and answer any questions you may have from maintaining them, operation and even how to rent. After the overview, we will take the group to the field for some hands-on demos of some of the BCS equipment. Our depot houses the majority of the BCS equipment as well as root crop barrel washers, dehydrators and more. There are also tool depots in Kaslo and Creston so we are welcoming people from all over to learn more about the equipment.
Finally, the event will end in a group potluck. Please bring your own cutlery and plates, as well as some food and a recipe card for those who may have food aversions or allergies. We will discuss topics on local agriculture, go more in-depth into practices at Linden Lane Farms and all the great resources available from the Young Agrarians and KLAS! We will have some chairs, but you are welcome to bring your own from home.
Please note that we do have a bio-security protocol in place for our farm. Please wear close-toed shoes as they will be subject to a quick boot dip in sanitizer. Please also wear clean and weather-appropriate clothing. There is no smoking allowed on our farm property and those who smoke will be asked to wash their hands upon entering to minimize the risk to our greenhouse crops.
