Sweetpotatoes are vegetatively propagated by stem cuttings. Our slips will be bare-root with approximately 3-6″ in stem length. Leaves may be damaged during handling and shipping, but slips will quickly recover if roots are placed in water with light and warmth. It is important to remove the peat plug and roots to ensure new roots develop straight when planted in final container.

Rich, sweet-tart flavour. This spreading ornamental shrub yields berries packed with pectin, and high in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Great for wine, jams, and smoothies. Blueberry-sized berries are sweet and astringent when eaten fresh. Fruit is astringent and may not appeal to everyone’s tastes. White, sweet-scented five-petal blooms appear in spring along with fine-toothed foliage that turns a fiery-red in fall, creating a welcome ornamental addition to your landscape. Pest- and disease-resistant. Cold hardy. Ripens in September. Self-pollinating. Native to North America. Also known as “Chokeberry”.

This female cultivar of Sea Buckthorn features fine silver foliage all season and edible orange berries in fall and winter, selected for high yields, rich in Vitamins A, C (about 7 times more than lemons) & E, antioxidants and omega 3 oils. Don’t just focus on the fruit though, the leaves can be dried and used for tea! This is a vigorous and attractive shrub that can grow 10-12 ft. in height if not pruned. Tolerant of alkaline and salty soil, and very cold hardy. Needs a male pollinizer for fruit set.
During the Cold War, East Germany used them as a healthful substitute for orange juice. The fruit is also unique for its oil content, which is used as a treatment for burns and skin diseases as well as for ulcers and other illnesses. You will often see Sea Buckthorn as an ingredient in many nutritional supplements and cosmetics. Sea Buckthorn berries can also be processed into fruit leather, purees and jams. Harvest out fruit by hand or by cutting off the fruit-laden branches and freezing them. The frozen berries can easily be shaken off and, after thawing, make great juice and preserves. Like cranberry juice, Sea Buckthorn juice is usually diluted with up to 70% water.

Albion produces very large and conical, bright red fruit that are more firm than Seascape. Performs well in our hot, dry climate. Would say it edges out Seascape in taste now that we have trialled it for 3 years; is more similar to the June-bearing cultivars in flavour.
